  • Do I have to become a member of AIACE?

Yes, since this hospitalisation insurance plan is part of a group contract concluded with AIACE, it is compulsory for you to become a member of this organisation. Please visit the website http://www.aiace-europa.eu/en/sections.

  • I am not retired yet. Can I sign up already?

Yes, you can sign up at any moment before retirement. However, the hospitalisation insurance with AIACE can only start at the earliest six months before retirement. If you want your cover to start earlier, please take a look at our hospitalisation insurance with Afiliatys.

  • Am I still covered by the JSIS in case of accident after my retirement?

Yes, you are. However, you are no longer covered at 100% as the JSIS refunds 80% to 85% of the medical costs incurred following an accident. The capitals for death and disability after an accident are no longer covered. Please take a look at our accident insurance plan for retired EU officials.

  • Can I cover my spouse?

Yes. Your spouse can be covered until the age of 67. Your spouse doesn’t necessarily need to choose the same option as you do (Major Risks with/without accident cover). Each of you can simply choose the option that best suits your needs.

  • Am I covered abroad?

Yes, you are. The coverage is valid worldwide after the first reimbursement of the JSIS.

  • Can I pay the premium on a monthly basis?

No, this is not possible. The premium must be paid fully in one annual payment.

  • Can I pay by direct debit?

Yes. Please send us the SEPA direct debit form by post. We need the original, signed document. Copies are not valid!

Important: please be informed that this is only valid for future payments.

  • What happens when the payment by direct debit fails?

In this case, you will have to pay the premium by bank transfer. We will send you a request for payment at the beginning of the following month.

  • I wish to cancel the coverage for my spouse. Do I have to pay the requested premium or will I receive a new premium request?

You can proceed with the payment of the amount indicated on the premium request. The overpayment will be reimbursed to you afterwards. Please inform us in writing of the bank account details for this reimbursement.
